Ferrofol Capsules are a Combined Iron and Folic Acid Supplement Primarily Used to Prevent and Treat Iron Deficiency Anemia and Folic Acid Deficiency, Especially During Pregnancy. 

Active Ingredients 

  • Iron (Ferrous Sulfate): Each Capsule Contains 150 mg 
  • Folic Acid 500 micrograms

Drug Indications

Dosage   

Adults: The Typical Dose is One Capsule Daily. Some Pregnant Women may Require Higher Doses Due to Dietary or Other Factors.

Capsules Should be Swallowed whole with Water and not Chewed or Kept in the Mouth. They Can be Taken Before or During Meals, Depending on Gastrointestinal Tolerance. 

Children and Elderly: Not Recommended. 

Contraindications

  • Known Hypersensitivity to any of the Ingredients.
  • Conditions like Hemochromatosis, Hemosiderosis, or Hemolytic Anemia, where there is Iron Overload or Abnormal Iron Utilization. 
  • Patients Receiving Repeated Blood Transfusions or those with Anemia not Caused by Iron Deficiency, Unless Iron Deficiency is also Present. 

In Case of Pregnancy or Breastfeeding, it is Recommended to Consult Your Doctor Before Taking any Medication

Precautions: 

  • Avoid taking Ferrofol with Antacids, Calcium Supplements, or Certain Antibiotics (e.g., Tetracyclines) as They Reduce Iron Absorption.
  • Can Cause Stomach Upset; Take with Food if Necessary but Avoid Dairy, Tea, or Coffee, which Reduce Iron Absorption.
  • Iron Supplements can Cause Constipation; Increase Fiber and Fluid Intake if Needed.
